Welcome to the Kentucky Council on Accreditation and School Improvement of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Our office is located at the University of Kentucky College of Education in Lexington. We accredit over 600 public and non-public PreK-grade 12 schools including early childhood centers, special purpose and vocational schools.

SACS accreditation focuses on enhancing the school’s capacity by requiring it to meet regional quality standards that emphasize improving student performance. In addition, the school must demonstrate a continuous process of improvement and strategies of quality assurance.

SACS is composed primarily of practicing professional educators who volunteer their time to serve on Quality Assurance Teams, regional and state committees, governing councils and provide professional development programs.
